Thank you to all those who took part in our survey about the Homse Secretary, Priti Patel, the response was fantastic and we are pleased to be able to share the results with you now.
The survey was picked up on by the Daily Mail, which has published an article on the campaign which you can read here.
With over 800 responses, 96% of you expressed your support for the Home Secretary; 92% of you feel that the Home Secretary has been treated unfairly; 92% of you agreed with the statement that the primary function of the Civil Service is to deliver a strategy as prescribed by the Prime Minister and the Secretaries of State; and 94% of you believe that the Home Office policy framework should not be seaprate and distinct from government policy.
It was great to hear from so many of you, and the following is a selection of quotes from respondents to the survey:
It is the business of the elected government to govern, not the civil service. I am very concerned about the political character of the civil service in recent times, and what appears to be politically motivated opposition to government and ministers.”
“Priti Patel is doing an excellent job delivering for the electorate and seeking transparency. Civil servants are very well paid ‘servants’ of the people, they should abide by the same rules as the rest of us, Priti is quite rightly holding them accountable. It is clear there is a ‘witch-hunt’ happening to prevent her from exposing them, we must not allow it.”
“My family and I think that the Home Secretary, Priti Patel, is doing a wonderful job. The best Home Secretary we’ve had! I think if she was sacked or resigned, there would be uproar. A lot of people support The Home Secretary.”
In response to the survey, Don Porter CBE, Co-Founder of Conservative Voice said:
“Over recent days there has been a concerted effort to destabilise and attack the Home Secretary. As is too often the case the voices of Conservative Party members, activists and supporters have gone unheard. Conservative Voice was established to amplify the voices of grassroot conservatives around the country, and they have spoken loudly and strongly in response to our questionnaire. The Prime Minister is clearly representing the membership of the Party in his unequivocal support for the Home Secretary. We urge him to remain steadfast in his support.”
Thank you once again to all of those of you who took part. It is only through your continued engagement and feedback that Conservative Voice continues to grow.
